The Ripe Bunch
By Jean Adamson
The Shed had a visit from this aptly named group
They all marched in – quite a troop!
A simple lunch of soup, cakes and scones
And it seemed they were there and then they were gone!
But the visit – I hope – was not a waste of time
For this group of mature ladies, all in their prime
Creative Regeneration took the lead
And they quickly moved to Gourock gardens with speed
The herb and walled gardens both played a part
In supplying the food that we all take to heart
Growing your own helps keep us all healthy
And it helps with the cost, so not just for the wealthy
Our Shed volunteers chatted with ‘The Girls’ while there
We complied with our motto of Meet Make Grow Share
And then Bruce delivered an interesting speech
All about the Shed and how far we have reached
Then time to move on ‘Up the Port’ to Muirshiel
And as I write this, I wonder how you all feel?
Has your day been worthwhile? Did you learn from your visit?
Did you build on your knowledge? If we missed something, what is it?
The Shed is a place where friendships are made
Where we hope you will feel like you wish you could have stayed!
But you’re welcome back here with your interest and smiles
And you don’t need to travel for too many miles.
