A New Year Dawns
Over the past year Inverclyde Shed has made a determined effort to build on home made goods. This has involved participation of the CAD CAM group led by Peter, and the Arts and Crafts group led by Margaret M. Peter has been building on this for around a year now and it is clear that his skills, together with those of his team, are improving considerably. Movement towards making goods at the Shed and selling them on, will lead to us ultimately becoming self-sufficient re funding. We have a long way to go but we are definitely moving forward in the right direction.
Items that interested the public were slate mats with various logos, wooden key rings with various patterns, guitar shaped bottle openers, lanterns, a variety of Christmas items for the tree and so much more.
Let’s keep building on all of these items and perfecting the skills that exist within the Shed. There is so much talent within our community organization. So, if you would like to join one of these groups with a view to moving onwards and upwards for next year, just check out our online timetable. There are many groups running within the Shed, some continuous and others available on a short-term basis so keep looking out for something you are interested in or bring forward your own ideas.
Keep in mind that we are all volunteers trying to do our bit so whether you can make goods on the ‘shop floor’, involve yourself in arts and crafts, join a music group, or just come along to find out a bit more about us by attending a Meet and Greet session, then you are paving the way for continuing development of the Shed.
Goods were sold latterly at Kilbarchan, where Peter took a stall, assisted by five other volunteers. Also, Bruce N. allowed us use of his Gourock shop to display and sell goods for a couple of days just before Christmas. Thanks Bruce – this was successful! There were three volunteers able to participate over those days. And together with selling items, lets remember that this is also publicity for the Shed! It still surprises me how many people have not heard about the Shed and are surprised at what we are involved in, not forgetting the ever-growing gardening groups and the bee-keepers.
Let’s build on working together to ensure a successful future!
